If Apostle Paul were alive today, he would weep over Marilyn Hickey. Marilyn Hickey hires people for $8/hour for praying for the needs. My understanding is that our prayers must be an offering to God. When people get paid for PRAYING, then it becomes another job. Prayer is not another Job. It is a very special time with God.

I don't know that to be true or false, but if true, I'm not surprised.

A hired prayer warrior is does not have their heart in their prayers - only their wallet. Think of it. Do they stop on the middle of 'desperate need' prayer for a 'coffee break', 'lunch break'? Do they punch in and out?

I used to be mesmerized by these TV preachers, not anymore.

I cannot stand the gimmicks (send me so much money, and I'll send you this ----). A person heart is not in that kind of giving.

They talk so much faith, but show so little.

I remember a few years ago Marilyn Hickey was in financial need (as usual) and she prayed about it and the Lord told her not to worry because He would meet the need. In the very next breath she turned around and told her 'partners' that this need was desperate and she needed their support. ??? On the one hand God was going to meet the need, and the other hand she was still pleading for the money. Where is her faith?

If God really called these preachers to the big ministries they have He would take care of the ministry without them begging for money.

Andrew Wommack (to my knowledge) does NOT ask for any money and he has a huge ministry (radio/TV). God totally takes care of it.

People should give where their fed and not where they are begged.

Also a person alms should stay right in their own hands until God tells them where to put it. There are too many scams artists out there looking to get your money in their own pocket, in the name of charity.

Another thing is they plead for money to preach the gospel. I heard this one preacher plead for money on every broadcast so they could preach the gospel, but I never did hear the gospel preached, only pleas for more money.

I get stuff from Marilyn Hickey all the time and it is garbage!! To think at one time I believed these lies that they are selling. Makes me quite embarassed. I have to laugh now tho at the antics they use. I think people need to use common sense when it comes to giving to ANY ministry. God doesnt expect you light bill to go unpaid so that you can "sow seed" into someone else's ministry. I had to learn that the hard way. When i couldnt buy food and i didnt have heat in my house, these "ministries" were no where around to help me. Not even the "local church" where I had been paying my tithe for 2 years. It was a hard lesson to learn to give from the heart and not out of obligation or compulsion but I thank God I finally did learn.

pastors get paid. worship leaders get paid. construction workers and contractors get paid to build the churches. people are paid to make bibles and to sell them. many of the major ministries pay their prayer people and they feel it is appropriate towards them and not taking advantage of their lives.

pastors are called to pray over the needs of all of their flock and to delegate worthy and equipped people to do it also.

redeemed4,

that really stinks that your church did not help you out of a benevolence fund or something. did they know that you were struggling? sorry that you had to experience that.

i don't like, i have never liked marilyn hickey's mailings. they embarassed me at my mail service. i have donated to her ministry, but i don't even open the mail and have asked to be removed from the mailing list.

BUT, she ministers in the middle east profoundly and her church is very cool. she does all kinds of creative and anointed evangelism. she is very edifying usually and she has some good resources that she makes available. her teachings are insightful and she helps to apply scripture in a life changing way.

she would never want you to neglect your primary bills to give her money. and there is a real reaping and sowing principle when we cheerfully and willingly sow into a ministry or kingdom purposes. i know it because i prayerfully tried it and God has really blessed me financially and spiritually later.

i agree that we all need to not only have common sense, but prayerfully decide where and when to give. Jesus said, "it is better to give than to receive" and when we give we will be blessed, "good measure and poured out".

you should write to her and tell her how her mailings effect you with a christian attitude
but don't compromise how you feel either.

i was at her church years ago and my close friend went to the college that they used to have and there are some wonderful things that i know about the ministry. she is also on awesome prayer boards and she loves Jesus and preaches and teaches and ministers on healing. she has been invited by the king of eygpt and other top leaders in the world to offer counsel and meet with them and she is a part of pastor cho's ministry in s.korea. she has conducted healing crusades in countries where you can be killed for going to a bible study. miracles have happened too.

i think we should pray in part secretly and humbly in our prayer closets and for our enemies and those who hurt us too. and no one should know except God. we can also be a part of a prayer ministry if we are trained and living a clean life and some of the ministries do pay for the time. and we should pray for the sick and those in authority over us.

marilyn hickey and her family and the church are truly anointed by God and bear really good and lasting fruit. not perfect and sometimes hokey, but genuine and very effectual.

i know someone who was not doing very well spiritually and she started attending there and grew and thrived and became a better person and a wonderful prayer warrior. the difference in her life was tangible. they have great services with visiting ministers from around the world too. why they send out those daffy mailings, is an old fashioned technique that quite a few of the evangelists from the 70's and 80's started.

she needs to update.
she is a great minister and has real integrity and she even admits to her faults pretty often which is humble and trustworthy.
her zeal for the Lord and her labor for him is really respectable and she is a terrific woman minister.

hope that your finances turn around and stay in the black and out of lack!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!!!!!!

Paying for PRAYER'S is unbiblical and it is not another profession. It ought to be volueerism. Marilyn Hickey used to sell Vials of "Holy Water" from the river Jordan. I do not think our airlines will allow so much of water to be transported. It could be her own assembly plant for filling the vials with distilled water from the local grocery store. MAy God forgive these Charlatans who preach another gospel and deceive many for Dollars. The sad part is her daughter Sarah has taken over her mother's mantle and will continue the heresy.
