I agree but what does that have to do with the "truth" of the workers and friends?? |

Growing up, the workers were praised by the friends in the little Sunday morning meeting I attended. So much praise and glory given to the workers! Friends would pray that the "servants would be sent to seek lost souls". Professing people in their testimonies would mention the wonderful day when "2 of God's servants crossed my pathway (or their parents/grandparents) when we were lost in sin and brought this precious truth". Worker sermons often focused on the "sacrifices of God's servants". We heard about how some younger worker "struggled with the decision to go out into the harvest field". We heard about some older worker giving his last strength to "preach the gospel" in some foreign country. And about some of our "workers" in foreign lands facing hostility, poverty and other hardships but freely preached the gospel out of love. We heard about some worker who faced stiff opposition from unprofessing relatives but continued on in spite of the opposition and how several of her relatives are hearty in the truth today because of the stand she "took a stand for what was right". Folks where did Jesus come into the picture?? So much about the people of the fellowship! So much about the "servants of God". But why don't the friends and workers speak more about Jesus?? |

The workers make a bigger issue out of meetings, worker visits, worldliness in the friend's homes, power/place of the true ministry (their ministry), and other trivial things than they do of the words of Jesus!! A professing person would be laughed at if he or she had a religious bumper sticker or a shirt with religious sayings/scriptural verses on them. You see the professing people teach that we shouldn't be "talking about religion" but we should be "living the truth before unprofessing people" so they see what we are giving up and enjoying in the "truth fellowship". Workers expect professing people give up "worldly things" (workers define them in home visits or during meetings)!! Professing women are supposed to be plain and ugly! Workers like to see professing people being "separate from the world" and yet enjoying giving up worldly things for Christ's sake! Actually for the worker's sake!! The workers think that they are Jesus in the flesh . Many of them think they are spiritually superior to professing people. And many professing people feel inferior to the workers or "Servants of God." Workers use the bible to justify their true religion. Only through listening to the workers and obeying their slant on the bible can you be saved. Thus it is hard to get the friends to discuss the bible in public. They are so afraid other people will find out some of their secret beliefs. |

We heard about so many "negative things" in meetings. We heard how we should fit in, fill our place, keep on in the "struggle", and attempt to reach the perfection of Jesus. So much about dark experiences, struggles, failures, faults, problems etc.. Are these people really happy? Why do they have such a gloomy outlook on salvation? Where is the GOOD NEWS of the gospel? Where is the praise and joy? Why the bawling and sobbing during convention when they give their testimonies. Hubert Childers would gently tap someone on the shoulders and ask if they had "given their testimony yet"! |

It's not a happy spirit dwelling at the conventions (we called them camps). It's a spirit of guilt and remorse. That's the victorious and joyful life Christ gave us by dying on the cross? Where is the "peace that passeth understanding." |

That peace that passeth understanding IS found in JESUS! Because the 2x2s claim they "own" Him, they claim to have that peace, but they don't know Jesus' peace because the workers are the world to them, not Jesus. When so much emphasis is on the workers and the meetings and the conventions, there is no Jesus. Jesus IS the answer! |

When Jesus said "It is finished" he fulfilled his mission on earth so others could live by grace. He took the worst beating and hung on the cross for us!!!! For us!!!! No good deeds...just live a good life--love and forgivness is the most important thing he said we can do for each other!! Love those that hate you for what effort is it to love just who you want to. Jesus loved the world--GOD he loves us more than our human minds can imagine! I was raised with a angry GOD who if you did not do good enough it would cause bad things to happen in your life. Well bad things happen to everyone good or bad, And good things happen to bad people. Faith the size of a mustard seed is all we need... not RUlES or fear..God does not want us to come to him in fear. I used to think as a child, how did I get so lucky to be born in this small church..well at 50years I have been really messed with...but the scales have been removed from my eyes!!! |
