John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Specifically, do they believe: "...whosoever believeth in him..." ? All the rest of scripture is, imo, inconsequential with respect to salvation if they believe the essential core of the gospel message as contained in John 3:16. Romans 14:4, "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand." From what I have found, they have changed "believeth" to "exercising faith" By changing the translation to exercising faith , everlasting life can only be obtained by repeated actions of faith {works}. Salvation is a free gift from God that cannot be bought or worked for. Hope that helps |

dondi, That is correct. I have an old jw Bible & John3;16 does use the word "exercise" They also use James 2;26 to back up that first scripture. |

Hi, The question is irrelevant whether a J.W. believes John 3:16, the point is that the Son of John 3:16 is not the same Jesus of the Scriptures, it is a different Jesus. See 2 Corinthians 11:4. The Jehovah Witness Organization does not believe that Jesus Christ is God Almighty come in the flesh. They take John 1:1 and add the article "a" in the Watchtower Translation. "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was _ God." It should not be added. So, if a J.W. does believe correctly in John 3:16 they still could not be saved because they do not believe that Jesus is One with the Father. Jesus, they believe is a created being, separate from the Father, and a lesser god. Erich |
