GODHEAD LDS: Father and Son are resurrected men with physical bodies. Holy Ghost is a separate man with a spiritual body. Three totally separate Gods. God is married. Other Gods for other worlds. AUTHORITY-PRIESTHOOD LDS: Believe only LDS have authority to baptize, ordain, etc. Have two-part system of priesthood - Melchizedek and Aaronic (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 3, p. 80-81; D&C 107:1-21) BIBLE Christ brought end to Aaronic priesthood and is the only High Priest after the manner of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 5:9-10; 7:11-17; 7:24-27; 2 Timothy 2:2) BAPTISM LDS: Must be performed by LDS priesthood. (Mormon Doctrine, pp. 69-72) BIBLE: Emphasis is on Believer - not on priesthood authority. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:37-41; 16:30=34) SONS OF GOD LDS: We were all born in heaven, prior to earth, as literal spirit children of God and his wife. (Mormon Doctrine, pp. 589-590) BIBLE: Spiritually adopted at conversion (John 1:12; Gal. 3:26) ETERNAL LIFE LDS: Exaltation in Celestial Kingdom; godhood and ability to bear children in heaven. After debt is paid they will go to the Telestial Kingdom. (Mormon Doctrine, pp. 349)351) BIBLE: No mention of people getting out of Hell (Rev. 21:8; Matthew 13:24-43, 47:50; Luke 15:26) HEAVEN LDS: Divided into three kingdoms- Celestial, Terrestrial and Telestial. A place for almost everyoe. (D&C 88:16-20; Misuse of 1 Corinthians 15:40-41) BIBLE: Only mentions two conditions - everlasting punishment or eternal life. (Matthew 24:31-46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10) KINGDOM OF GOD LDS: Means Celestial Kingdom. Only those in the Celestial Kingdom are in God's presence. Thank you Godchild. It is my concern that I spread a Gospel substantiated with background biblical information and explanation. Otherwise people would come to a fake Jesus and to a mockery of salvation. Unless one understands and recognizes sin, repentance, cross and salvation in God's terms, the Gospel is irrelevant to them. But many christians today seek a (cultic like) fast acceptation of some sort of evangelical message, just for sake of church growth. | ||

overseas, about.com, has a storehouse of info directly from the lds church. Surprisingly, the person who is the 'guide' is a woman named Rachel Woods. This morning, I was perusing and found: Teachings of the Presidents of the L.D.S. Church: Harold B. Lee,ii I didn't read much but tell me if you find it strange, as I did, the following comments on his book. Quote: Your comments and suggestions about this book would be greatly appreciated. Please submit them to...Email:cur-development@ldschurch.org. Please list your name, address, ward and stake. Be sure to give the title of the book. Then offer your comments and suggestions about the book's strength's and areas of potential improvement. The pres. of the lds church is considered to be a prophet, seer, and revelator for the members of the church and the world. These books are not autobiographies, but biography's (an account of ones life and character)by the pres. Why is it necessary for the mouthpiece of God on earth to get feedback from meer men/women? Does this make sense? Would the book be changed or added to after receiving input from mortals? Not only that, but the man is dead. Will he respond to comments and suggestions? Let me share an exerpt from the words of Pres. Harold B. Lee; his reason for believing in the Prophet Joseph Smith: As a young boy, about 10, he was in a field with his father. There was a hole in a fence. There were some falling down buildings on the other side. A voice came to him saying "Don't go there." He looked around to see if his father had spoken to him but his father wasn't there. He says from that time he read everything he could find about Joseph Smith. This to me is a testimony devoid of reason. Is there one 10 year old child who has not heard a voice clearly saying something to them? Is this a reason to study a man and become a follower of his? Am I a prophet and just don't know it? Are you? Would you follow me? I wouldn't! Jesus said, "take up your cross and follow ME." Please share this information with others. As the fastest growing church in the world today, mormonism needs to be exposed at least as quickly as they put up another ward, stake, or temple. It is the youth I am especially concerned with as they are the ones sent out to mission for the lds church. Our youth are our most valuable resource. Let's show them the truth about God! | ||
