His MRI was mis-read about 3 months ago,he kept having pain, and when he returned to the doctor on friday, they found a tumor attached to his spine, with growth into the bone and five vertabre & his liver. His name is Richard and he is also an elder in the church, his wife Maria also sings in the group & he has 2 middle school aged children. Please Put him on your prayer list thanks, steelsword. |

Steelsword, I will pray for Richard and his family and pass his name along to others who will pray. (I can relate to the misdiagnosis - my father had terrible pains in his legs. His doctor said it was due to the fact that my father was a diabetic. Finally, the pain got so bad that he couldn't walk, so he was admitted to the hospital. There they discovered that he was loaded with small cell bone cancer. He went home to the Lord 3 days later.) Rom 8:28-30 For God works together with all things for the good of those who love Him.... I am sorry I did not notice your post earlier, Steelsword. Know that Richard and his family will be in my prayers. I love the verse, "Whether I live or die, I am the Lord's." Peace be unto you. I just said a quick prayer and the Lord led me to Corrie Ten Boom's book. Please don't think me presumptious if I share this with you. It must have meaning because I just opened the book to any page. Corrie had to give up her long-time companion, Conny, when Conny married. Two years later Corrie was notified that Conny was in the hospital with a terminal illness. Quote: Conny was prepared to go and be with her Lord and Savior, but to take that trip all by herself was so difficult for her. Would Jesus ask that of her? Slowly she said, "I have taken many trips in my lifetime but there was always someone with me. Mother was there when I was small, Corrie was with me during many of them, and now my husband is with me. But on this trip, who is going to go with me?" Her husband gently took her hand and said, "Conny, here is my hand and as soon as Jesus comes for you, I will surrender your hand to Him!" Conny did not answer but her face looked content. Suddenly she turned to us and asked us to sing Psalm Twenty-Three for her. I swallowed the lump in my throat and asked the Lord to help me in joining the others in the singing, but the phrase we left out was, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." When we finished Conny said, "You forgot one phrase--please sing it!" So we sang, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death" while the tears rolled down our cheeks. Then Conny thought of all the friends all over the world whom we had comne to know and love, and she asked me to greet them. We bagan to pray and Conny laid her hands on Ellen's head and said, "Be...faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life" (Rev. 2:10). Conny died a victorious death. Her life bore much fruit, and she prepared many people to meet the Master, our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to call her home to be with Him forever. I hope this will be some small comfort to you. Your friend has touched our hearts this day. |

Oh, God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry; When I have work, help me to remember the jobless; When I have a warm home, help me to remember the homeless; When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer; And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency and bestir my compassion. Make me concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted.--Samuel F. Pugh |

Update: Richard had complications after they removed part of the Tumor, the tissue arond the wound would not heal & was leaking, he was unable to receive more radiation , now the cancer has spead to the brain stem, his wife spoke at church Sunday & thank everyone for their prayers & Love. She said the Hospital told her that they have done all they can do. He will soon be sent home on hospice care. Again thinks for the prayers. Again Richard is an elder in the church and very strong in his faith, the last time we talked He told me he did not want to Die, The man has a passion for life & his Family, God knows his will, and although his flesh may die, I know in my heart he is spiritually healed. Please again pray for him & his family. Thanks My fellow Christians. Steel Jude 3 |

Steel, I just read an article that tells us, when people are suffering, to offer a kind word and then share the gospel. So I want to share the 'Daily Bread' for today that may ease Richard's fears. It's as though a sinister stranger comes knocking on your door. You must let him in, for he knocks insistently and will not go away. He is sorrow personified. You believe no one sees your tears and you feel all alone--but God sees them all and He understands. "All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears," David said in Psalm 6. "The Lord has heard the voice of my weeping" (vv.6,8). "You number my wanderings; put my tears into Your bottle; are they not in Your book?" (56:8). Though "weeping may endure for a night," it is a transient houseguest, for "joy comes in the morning" (30:5). We remember, as David did, that God's love and favor last for a lifetime. He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. then God's love comes into our thoughts, our feelings of sorrow and dread flee. Our mourning is turned into dancing, our garments of sackcloth and sorrow are stripped away and we are girded with gladness. We can rise to greet the day with shouts of ringing praise for His mercy, guidance, and protection. We rejoice in His holy name (30:11-12). No matter our circumstances, let's sing to the Lord once again! --David Roper Praise is the voice of a soul set free. |

Richard was unable to attend today, but he was able to record "Communion Dedication" & His testimoney, The Whole church was in tears.he said the doctors have given him about two weeks to live, but that he continues to Pray for a miracle. He said that he is at peace if the Lord so chooses to take Him. All of his family is down from Virginia, & he is resting with them at home. I guess we never know the Hour or the Minute. Hear is a man that 3months ago was in good health & only 47 years old, & will probably be leaving behind a wife and 2 Young kids (13 &16). It just makes me wonder what I would do without my spouse. Richard said to thank everyone who has sent prayers, & if he does don make that he will see us in the Eternal Kingdom. God bless you all , Thanks for the understanding, and the prayers, As the apostle Paul said: To live is Christ To Die is GAIN. amen, Steel |

Unless this is too late, tell him that he has a Chinese Baptist in Singapore, a South African Catholic Seminarian in Rome, and a born-again Hungarian-American Catholic professor in OH (me) praying for him. Two quick stories that you may want to share with him. There was an Italian-American mother of 7 who was dieing. "Who will take care of my children?" she worried. A wise priest told her, "Maria, God loves the children more than you do. He will see that they are taken care of." She was then at peace and died short time later. All 7 children were taken care of and grew up well, healthy and God-fearing. The second story is from the church I was raised in. A young couple wanted to have kids, but weren't having any. They conceived and got a little girl, Kim. When Kim was seven, she was diagnosed with leukemia and given no hope. The couple never told her about her sickness, and treated her the same as before (except they let her plan the vacation.) In the fall, Kim was in and out of hospitals. Her parents came in one morning and she was sleeping. She woke up and said. "kiss me Mommy, Kiss me Daddy." They did, then she said, "Please get my slippers, God told me that I'm going home today." Kim closed her eyes and died. For what they are worth. You will know if they will edify Richard or not. EGK |

Steel, people in Oregon and Alaska are praying for Richard and his family. I am asking that you all pray also for my friend Tina. Tina contracted meningitis in 1990. She was in a coma for two weeks and not expected to live. She lost her eyesight and because of her weakened condition is susceptible to many ailments including seizures. For the last three weeks she has been very ill, losing a lot of weight because she throws up everything including her required medications. Next week she is going to the VA hospital for more tests. They think it's her gall bladder. Please pray that God may strengthen her to overcome this. Please pray for all those who are less fortunate than we are. Thank you. Yesterday she said the verse that keeps coming to her is, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away." |

Richard was able to come to church on Sunday. he no longer has feeling in his legs and has paralisis (Sp) in his face. He was given a standing ovation when he came in. He is a real warrior, & this probably was the last time for him being with his whole church family as a group. Again i told him of all your prayers, & he gave thanks. His faith is a motivation to us all. Also my dad (Who is still LDS) and my grandmother came down, for a visit and ended up going to church as well. Hopefully Richards testimony will play on my dad. We did have a good discussion. You see here we have Richard dying and I'm more worried about my dad & his salvation. Nulla , don't no if Gc sent you the email i sent her , or if you have an email i can reach you at? I just had a tract the church used to hand out pertaining to archaeology & the native American Indians , that you might like. |

steel, In a way I was dreading reading your post but now am so glad I did. Do not feel badly about Richard, your Dad, and your feelings. Richard is assured of salvation. Yes, I sent the email on to nulla. He can relate what he thought of them. I know he was pleased. Last night I watched a documentary about a 36 year old man named Jonny Kennedy from UK. He was born with a rare disease. His skin blistered just by touching anything. His mother had to change his dressings once a week. He said everyday of his life was spent in discomfort. His belief in Christ allowed him to distant himself for short times from his pain. He spoke about dying freely and in fact planned his funeral down to the minute upon receiving the news from doctors that he had one year left to live because of a cancerous tumor. He said he would not enjoy floating around on a cloud all day, but would rather drop one thousand feet once in awhile for variety. He was grateful for death to release him though he regretted leaving his family and many, many friends. He knew they would be with him soon. |

steel, I would like to share a portion of a book I have by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross. In the course of a terminal illness, we can give up, we can demand attention, we can scream, we can become total invalids long before it is necessary. We can displace our anger and sense of unfairness onto others and make their life miserable. Or we have the choice to complete our work, to function in whatever way we are capable and thereby touch many lives by our valiant struggle and our own sense of purpose in our own existence. From the thousands of dying children and grownups I have followed over the past decades, it has been only the ones who are willing to share who have left an imprint. Those who have not been able to externalize their fears and frustrations, their guilts, and their unfinished business, remain stuck in them. Those who have had the courage to scream and rage, if necessary, to quesiton God, to share their pain and agony, are the ones who have touched our very being. Those were also the ones whose faces were peaceful and radiant when they left, leaving all those in awe who entered their room in the final days of their earthly existence. Without realizing it, Richard has given all of you a gift of himself. |

thanks Steelsworld. my email if ever. nulla@aussiepartners.com.au My thoughts hopes and prayers are for your fathers salvaltion. All my prayers throughout the day always include Richard. I went through the same with my late son inlaw Max. He inspired me so much when he was at the same stage as Richard is now... he suffered from brain cancer and had 3 ops and a long battle. He came home from hospital for fathers day to be with his little baby daughter (my grandchild) and to get to his room it took near on 25 minutes to get up the stairs... he knew it was his last few days but refused help and wanted so much to be with his family. He passed away next morning. he was 27 I still choke and come to tears when I hear the song "stairway to heaven' as I always think of Max and his last day on the staircase. That will be 5 years ago on the 4th Sept. god bless you all Nulla |

Corrie Ten Boom's father used to tell her not to despair in difficult times because we are always in the Jesus's everlasting arms. She remembered that when she was lying on a filthy, cold floor in a concentration camp and it was a comfort to her. |

Prayers and sympathy to Richards family and friends. God bless you steel for all you have done in his last weeks, I am sure he is looking upon you as a true christian friend. It is wonderful that we were fortunate enough to be able to use this modern technolgy to allow us to have taken some small part in Richards last weeks on earth. It is a lesson for us all to put this type of experience to use for the future. Times change, Technology changes, but God remains the same. Nulla |

Yes, steel, thank you for sharing this time with us. And as Nulla says, it is a lesson for me. I spent some time with Tina today. It is hard to express how it makes you feel to look at a friend whose time left on earth is counted in months. Her concern is not for herself. Her concern was for a medical problem I have. It makes me feel very small. I am grateful to have this time with her as she is a remarkable person. Without God's spirit to strengthen me I know I would be unable to help her, not because of her weakness, but mine. I will continue to pray for Richard's family. |

Richards Service was held on Sunday, Very powerful, He did not want a typical service, but a service of praise and worship. We actually had two young men give their life to Christ and were baptised during the service. We must always remember that even Funerals though emotional are still a service of praise and worship. I Cryed, I laughed, and i felt the spirt of God, Richard was truly blessed. Hope all are well. If you ever get to old NC , look me up. Teaching apologetics on lds Doctrine this month at Church. |

Steelsworld: I feel sorrow for your loss of obviously not just a good friend, but a good man from the lives of you, your family and friends. I have just been informed that my Grandfather died yesterday after being ill for 6 weeks - fortunately it was through his age (87!), and he passed away without discomfort in his sleep. I am simply grateful that we know of and accept the Saviours gifts to them during their lives and those they now enjoy. I feel deeply blessed to have known my grandad, and for the fantastic memories of a loving man I have Robert |

Robert, good to hear from you our friend, though the news is sad. My thoughts and prayers will include you and your family during difficult times with the loss of your grandfather. 87 wonderful years is a blessing. Steel, I am sad to read as well your news of your cousin and friend. Prayers to you and Angela I do work for my church to assist those who have serious trouble with teenage children. Overdoses and suicides are very common in the western suburbs of Melbourne. It is always hard to come to terms with the loss of young lives. I have a number of candles now burning for you all God Bless Nulla |

steel, at one time you said that Lucifer was a singer. I did not agree or disagree because I hadn't heard it, but jd found humor in it. I want you to know I heard a minister say that Hebrew scholars say that he was a singer (that he had the voice of timbrels and harps). |

Gc , you probably have me confused with someone else. I never said he was a singer, but i recall someone saying he was a musician, & joesdad questioning him as to where this was found. Christ created all things. I believe Lucifer to be a fallen Angel , Not spiritual Brother of Christ. I beleive Lucifer was a Higher order of Angel (Cherub) . Cherub denotes the power of knowing and beholding God. Read first Ezk: 28: 10-19 Lucifer's fall foretold. Isaiah 29:4 He is also called "son of Morning" & "Morning Star" Also: " Angel of Light" 2 Cor 11:13-15 Lk 10:18 Read BOM- 2 Nephi 9:9, also 2 Nephi 2; 17-19 "Angel of Light" = Satan , Lucifer deceiver. If you have and older copy of the D&C as I Have you will see on the Explanatory Page that Joseph said Moroni An Angel Of Light appeared to him. Makes you Wonder don't it. Their are some that think the Angels had workmanship roles Directed by Christ in parts of Creation. They say Lucifer Was in Charge of the Stars, Hence Morning star, Angel of Light. Bruce R. McConkie's "Mormon Doctrine" states the definition of "Angel of Light" as Lucifer. In 1983 the 'Angel of Light " referenced by Joseph Smith as Moroni was removed. Go Figure, I have Both copies . Other Bible Ref: Gen 25:22 God communes with Moses from between the Cherubim, so we Know these Angels are the Highest order, they also Sat on the Ark of The Covanent.. See also Hebrews 9:5 1 Sam 4:4, Ps 80:1 1Nephi 13:15 He may have been a Singer I Don't Know, He's the great Deceiver , so he probably sings a beautiful song , with a misguided message. |

I want you to know I heard a minister say that Hebrew scholars say that he was a singer (that he had the voice of timbrels and harps). Actually, the name Lucifer doesn’t appear in the Jewish bible. What Christians read as Lucifer in Isaiah 14:12 actually appears in Hebrew as "heleyl, ben shachar" which can be literally translated "shining one, son of dawn." This phrase literally means the planet Venus when it appears as a morning star. The phrase literally reads as “Helel, son of Shahar”. Lucifer is a Latin word. It doesn't belong in a Hebrew Tanakh. Isaiah 14:12 says How have you fallen from heaven, Helel, son of Shahar Helel was a Babylonian / Canaanite god who was the son of another Babylonian / Canaanite god named Shahar. Helel was the god of the morning star and his father was Shahar, god of the dawn. So Isaiah is saying that with the fall of the King of Babylon so falls his false gods Helel and Shahar. These are the REAL words in the Tanach (Isaiah 14:12). It is speaking of the Babylonian gods and how they fell with the fall of Babylon along with the king of Babylon. FYI, the name Lucifer doesn't show up in the early translations including Christian translations. Lucifer doesn't show up until the 4th century CE translations to Latin (Remember lucifer is a latin word): Quote: quomodo cecidisti de caelo lucifer qui mane oriebaris corruisti in terram qui vulnerabas gentes. So Lucifer isn't a devil, it is the latin translation of a Canaanite / Babylonian god! The 4th century Xians translated Helel (Hebrew) into lucifer (latin) and then folks began to misinterpret lucifer as being a fallen angel. No such thing -- Isaiah is speaking of false gods of the Babylonians "falling" because the kingdom was destroyed. Some Jewish translators never heard of Helel and Shahar. So, the Artscroll version of the Tanakh is translated as: 12 How have you fallen from the heavens, O glowing morning star; been cut down to the ground, O conqueror of nations? Helel was the god of the morning star. In addition, using the word "Lucifer" in Isaiah 14:12 presents a minor problem to mainstream Christianity and becomes a huge obstacle for the claims of Mormonism. John J. Robinson in A Pilgrim's Path, pp. 47-48 explains: "Lucifer" is nothing more than an ancient Latin name for the morning star, the bringer of light. That can be confusing for Christians who identify Christ himself as the morning star, a term used as a central theme in many Christian sermons. Jesus refers to himself as the morning star in Revelation 22:16: "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star." Henry Neufeld (a Christian who comments on Biblical sticky issues) went on to say, this passage is often related to Satan, and a similar thought is expressed in Luke 10:18 by Jesus that was not its first meaning. Its primary meaning is given in Isaiah 14:4 which says that when Israel is restored they will "take up this taunt against the king of Babylon. Verse 12 is a part of this taunt song. This passage refers first to the fall of that earthly king. So why is this problem to Christians? Christians now generally believe that Satan (or the Devil or Lucifer who they equate with Satan) is a “being” who has always existed. Therefore, they also think that the 'prophets' of the Old Testament believed in this creature. The Isaiah scripture is used as proof (and has been used as such for hundreds of years now). As Elaine Pagels explains, the Christian concept of Satan has evolved over the years and the early Bible writers didn't believe in or teach such a doctrine. The irony for those who believe that "Lucifer" refers to Satan is that the same title ('morning star' or 'light-bearer') is used to refer to Jesus, in 2 Peter 1:19, where the Greek text has exactly the same term: 'phos-phoros' 'light-bearer.' This is also the term used for Jesus in Revelation 22:16. However, Lucifer is a far bigger problem to Mormons. Mormons claim that an ancient record (the Book of Mormon) was written beginning in about 600 BCE, and the author in 600 BCE supposedly copied Isaiah in Isaiah's original words. When Joseph Smith pretended to translate the supposed 'ancient record', he included the Lucifer verse in the Book of Mormon. Obviously he wasn't copying what Isaiah wrote. He was copying the King James Version of the Bible. Another book of Mormon scripture, the Doctrine & Covenants, furthers this problem in 76:26 3 when it affirms the false Christian doctrine that "Lucifer" means Satan. This incorrect doctrine also spread into a third set of Mormon scriptures, the Pearl of Great Price, which describes a war in heaven based, in part, on Joseph Smith's incorrect interpretation of the word "Lucifer" which only appears in Isaiah. |

Steelsword I am confused by your posts. Your link says The Bright Morning Star goes to the misnomer of "Lucifer", which is an incorrect title for Satan or the Devil taken from the King James Version of Isaiah 14:12.. But your post directly before mine says Isaiah 29:4 He is also called "son of Morning" & "Morning Star" Also: " Angel of Light" 2 Cor 11:13-15 Lk 10:18 Read BOM- 2 Nephi 9:9, also 2 Nephi 2; 17-19 "Angel of Light" = Satan , Lucifer deceiver. You seem to be equating Morning Star to Lucifer to Satan. So, you say Lucifer is Satan, but your link says it isn’t. |

Yaakov, No re- read, I have noticed in some text he is called "Morning star" or "son of morning" I said he is called these , I didn't say i agreed with this utill i have time to research what you have said. I beleive Christ to be the Bright & morning Star. I was also stating the Def from McConkie's (Mormon Doctrine). Sometimes you and i mis- communicate due to the fact that you are coming from the Jewish standpoint and i as a former mormon ,from sometimes a christian standpoint, & sometimes from the mormon standpoint. It is hard sometimes i know because we are talking 3 diffrent theological groups. sometimes i am trying to talk on their terms . |

Yaakov, it does seem that "Lucifer" comes from Latin, meaning light bearer. I do beleive that Lucifer ended up in (Isaiah) by virture of Jerome & that Satan and Lucifer are not the Same. It seems as Jerome was using Lucifer as an anology of showing this king as a fallen king. will study more on this Subject. |
