Another whistleblower murdered OTTAWA CLOWN FOUND SHOT TO DEATH ALLEGED COVER-UPS By Andrew Seymour An Ottawa-area man found shot to death in his home threatened to go public with allegations of corruption and cover-ups in Ontario’s harness racing community just four days before his homicide. Friends of Randy Rankin said the 46 year old former race announcer at the Rideau-Carlton Raceway fancied himself a “whistleblower” who was often in the know about fines and suspensions for drug violations before the Ontario Raising Commission would hand them down. He had also recently been the subject of death threats said friend and former employer Bob McNamara “He didn’t tell me what they were, he just said that he was having people threatened to kill him and beat his head in,” said Mr. McNamara, 47, who last spoke to Mr. Rankin on Friday. Even if that B.S. were true, as a police officer he is supposed to threaten no one. Even if threatened with a gun he is not supposed to threaten the crook saying "I will take that gun and blow your f--ing head off!!! Once he has the gun he certainly has no right to then turn the gun on the crook. Check the Police Handbook Arrest and Interrogation and what constitutes a threat by a police officer] “I think someone wanted him silenced,” said Mr. McNamara. “He was adamant he was going to bring horse racing and the corruption that was involved out in the public for everyone to know.” The father of a teenage daughter, Mr. Rankin was found by his wife, Dorothy, at about 5:00 AM on Monday in the couple’s home. Friends said he was found slumped over his computer after being shot in the back of the head through a basement window. Yesterday, the OPP said an autopsy revealed Mr. Rankin, who was also a children’s clown who went by the name of Lunch Box Louis, died from a single gunshot wound. It appears Mr. Rankin, who posted more than 2000 times to the message boards at the website www.harnessdriver.com since joining in November, 2003, had been surfing the chat rooms in the moments before his death.
