Now, if I had the over $100,000 it has cost me to defend myself on false charges, there is much that could be done. Among one of the least costly ideas, is to offer a writing contest in one highschool for say $100 for the most comprehensive essay on a student’s comprehension of pyramid fraud, the already reported devastating effects, and by using their own imagination and common sense have them extrapolate real life situations that could ultimately result from citizens embracing these scams. Publish the best on Factnet and elsewhere and vote. And if successful perhaps raise enough money to increase the prize and the number of schools involved. I believe that would catch on and spread the message into the home. I think our schools have just a few more pressing social issues on the agenda than this monumentally fringe issue. Sorry, this one was just too rich to resist. The idea of helping victims of fraud may be noble, but I doubt even your supporters would want to be the one waltzing into this principal's office with this gem of an idea. I have a different opinion than you with regards to their legality, but I do not represent them, haven’t had any dealings with them in a year, and could care less if they continue or not. Sorry capn, I don't know the UK very well, and I just found it interesting that I had heard of Stockport, because my wife's grandparents (well one of them) was from there originally. They moved to Canada in the 1960's, but of course there is still family there. My apologies if I offended you. | ||

The company operated a 'Pirate Ship' themed pyramid selling scheme. Investors paid £1,200 to sign up and were told to recruit further members of a ship 'crew'. They would move up to the position of 'captain' depending on how many recruits they could enrol. Once the 'ship' had a full crew of eight members they were told to 'sail the high seas searching for gold' by taking a profit share of further investments.
